One Tree Hill season 9 premieres this week with "Know This, We've Noticed," episode 1, and the sneak peek shows that Tyler Hilton is indeed back as Chris Keller. But what exactly is he up to? Is he going to try to make trouble for Nathan and Haley again?
Zap2it has some spoilers about what Chris Keller is up to now that he's back in Tree Hill, along with a photo of Chris with Chuck that is from the second episode of the ninth and final season. Apparently, they're going to sing together, and Hilton calls him his "partner in crime also, this season." Now that should be interesting. Chuck isn't going to be the only one Chris is hanging out with. He'll be spending time with Chase as well, since he's going to be in Red Bedroom Records this season. Hilton did say, "They get really friendly with each other. This season their paths cross, almost a little too close for comfort." Apparently Chris is more for the "bromance" than Chase is at first. Since spoilers about the third episode reveal that Chase is going to be dealing with a broken heart, perhaps a new bromance with Chris will be what he needs to open up. However, there's also a shot of Chase in the One Tree Hill season 9 premiere sneak peek (below) being put into a police car, and in that same clip, Chris Keller is hanging out with Dan and guns, so maybe this isn't necessarily going to be putting Chase on a good path. Of course, Naley fans have to worry about what Chris Keller being back in town means for their favorite couple, especially with Nathan MIA since James Lafferty is part-time this season. However, it doesn't sound like anyone has anything to worry about concerning Chris Keller and Nathan and Haley, as Hilton also revealed, "I don't really get punched or anything for hooking up with girls like I did before." So it sounds like even though he's still talking in the third person (as seen in the clip), he is a bit different. Meanwhile, it doesn't seem like there's time for any of Chris Keller's usual behavior towards Haley, let along a duet, since Bethany Joy Galeotti has said, "Haley's story is so heavy, I just don't know that she'd find time to go sing." She also added, "I love the Haley and Keller dynamic; it's so funny." She described him as like her "little brother": "She tolerates him. I think she's annoyed that there's someone in her life that she had an indiscretion with in her marriage." However, in the ninth season, Haley's going to be focused on much more important matters than her past with Chris Keller. After all, Nathan's going to be missing, and everyone's worried about what's going to happen there.
So what does Tyler Hilton want for his character? He has said, "I think it'd be awesome if he found a girl this season who was a Chris Keller match, so he wouldn't be hitting on everyone else's girl. I think he deserves it." It would be better for everyone involved if he found a nice, single girl who's just what he needs, but will that happen?
