Splore 2012

The colourful celebration of music, performance, art and life that is Splore was held over three days between February 17 and 19, 2012. Under the dress-up theme of "The Island of Hooha" a sell-out crowd enjoyed local and international music acts in the sublime coastal setting of Tapapakanga regional park. Highlights included: The Yoots leading the crowd in a sing-along set of Maori songs straight from primary school days. Headliner Erykah Badu embodied soulful cool, with a set punctuated by an intense tropical downpour. Rockabilly gypsies the Barons of Tang whipped the crowd into an afternoon frenzy on Saturday. DJ Qbert and MC Reeps One put on a masterful display of turntablism and beatboxing. Splore has once again confirmed its reputation as a summer festival of rare magical qualities.
