Phil Bostwick

Phil Bostwick began his foray into the wonderful world of entertainment as a film, TV and media student at Auckland University. There he made a documentary about local electronic musicians SJD and Concord Dawn before being snaffled up by TV2's Space as the show's researcher. This included doing everything from putting up with finicky international music stars to deciding which movies to review.

A year later he was fronting the popular entertainment variety programme at age 23 alongside co-presenter Jo Tuapawa. Phil has since presented TV2 music staple Coke New Releases, Speedway show The Dirt and was a resident album reviewer on TV1's Headliners. He has also fronted Full Tank for MTV New Zealand and Sky TV's movie review show Popcorn.

Phil cut his broadcasting teeth at radio station 95bFM as a news reader and show host and now presents George FM's weekly NZ music show Hallelujah Aotearoa which includes comprehensive coverage of local cinema. He also has a love for acting and has featured on a number of advertising campaigns.

A big screen buff from way back, Phil's movie taste covers the spectrum from Hollywood block busters to festival favourites to important New Zealand films. Favourite flicks include Fargo, Office Space, The World's Fastest Indian, Full Metal Jacket, Kaikohe Demolition, Borat, American Psycho, Spellbound, The Castle, Lost in Translation and so much more.

As well as Yahoo Xtra Phil currently writes for Fashion Quarterly Men, Sky Watch and Rip It Up. Phil plays football, golf, tennis, likes snowboarding and cooking and, yes, enjoys eating choc-nut ice creams at the movies.
