Mariah Carey new Idol judge
Rating:

Mariah Carey has been confirmed as a judge on 'American Idol'.

The 42-year-old singer has joined the panel of the popstar search show, following the departures of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.

Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly revealed the appointment at the Television Critics Association summer tour in Beverly Hills as he was speaking about the duo’s exits.

He said: "We do, in fact, have one judge whose deal closed very, very recently. It's an artist that many contestants have tried to emulate, have tried to have sung the songs, have tried to hit the notes and because it really was concluded only hours ago, our judge couldn't be with us."

Mr. Reilly then put Mariah on speakerphone to the room.

She said: "I am so excited to be joining 'Idol'. First of all, I wanted to be there today and I wish I could've been there to tell you, but I think you know this all kind of just happened real quickly, so I can't wait to get started in a couple months."

The future of the only original member of the panel, Randy Jackson, is as yet unclear.

time for this change, now they need a more mature artist to fill the 4th spot, U.S.A. is in a financial crisis so this show obviously brings a lot of hope and happiness to everyone.

Okay when a show is so bad that talentless bozos like lopez and tyler don't even want to hang around don't you realize it's time to cancel this show that has never been anything more than pointless rubbish anyway. As for carey, to real music she was never relevant so hardly anyone will care what she does.

America has far bigger problems to solve(if you' ve been following the news lately) than a mashy "i" singer rubbish. It is the gloryfication of all things American from films to the lives of greedy that is causing the country to have so many dysfunctional people. However too many including some defenders here, choose to bury their toffee head in the sand, in order to avoid the real issues...
