Greg Johnson announces 20th annivesary tour
Rating:

Singer-songwriter Greg Johnson has announced a new tour of New Zealand to mark the 20th anniversary of his break into the Kiwi music scene.

It's been 20 years since Johnson's breakthrough single 'Isabelle'. The song 'Liberty' followed in the late '90s, earning him a coveted Silver Scroll songwriting award.

Since then Johnson has continued to endear himself to fans with numerous plaudits including two Tui NZ Music Awards, eight top 20 albums and an extensive collection of hits including 'Don't Wait Another Day', 'Save Yourself', 'It's Been So Long', 'Now The Sun is Out', 'Looking Out On Monday' and 'I Got Opinions'.

To celebrate both 20 years of music and his forthcoming 10th studio album, Exits, Johnson is returning from home base LA and is hitting the road in November with a full electric band.

"It’s been almost two years since I toured New Zealand and that was an acoustic band so this time we're kicking it up to a five piece with drums and the full noise. I'll be playing a number of tunes we've never done live before and of course the highlights from 20 years' worth of albums as well," Johnson says.

The Greg Johnson 20th Anniversary Tour kicks off November 14 in Hamilton at the Meteor Theatre and concludes in Christchurch on December 1. Tickets go on sale on September 20.

Tour dates are:

Wednesday 14th Nov, Hamilton, Meteor Theatre
Thursday 15th Nov, Auckland, Victoria Theatre (Devonport)
Friday 16th Nov, New Plymouth, Mayfair
Saturday 17th Nov, Auckland, Paddington Live (Parnell)
