The 25-year-old released her second album, ‘Gravel and Wine’, in November, performed the last ever New Zealand Big Day Out last month – and now she’s bringing her distinctive voice to this year’s Classic Hits Winery Tour.
Wigmore told Yahoo! New Zealand she’s excited to be joining the line-up.
“I can’t believe I’m on it, to be asked is really cool,” she says.
She describes her fellow tour buddies, Avalanche City and The Mutton Birds, as a “really cool bunch of people”.
“They’re such nice guys, like most Kiwi musicians you find they’re really low key and pretty relaxed. I think the winery tour will be just that too - laying out in the sun and drinking booze and having fun. Yeah, it’ll be fantastic.”
Wigmore is hoping her music gets the winery punters up and dancing and “letting loose”.
The Kiwi-born artist currently balances her time between America and New Zealand “with a bit of Australia chucked in”.
“It’s good, I’m always travelling, but I’ve got a good suitcase so it’s all good,” she says.
But while she gets to do lots of touring globally, Wigmore definitely loves performing for her home crowd in New Zealand.
“There’s a lot of love in the room and a lot of support. It’s a really nice environment to play to people like that, because they’ve got this kinda family mentality where it’s like ‘ah don’t worry, just do your best’ and it’s really nice.”
However she admits her recent performance at New Zealand’s last Big Day Out was a sad affair.
“It was just sad looking out at a stadium and it’s not full.
“I grew up going to the Big Day Out and it’s the most exciting thing of summer, with great lineups you know – it was known for that.
“And then this year... the lineups are largely local or Australian acts, I just think it’s fizzled out.”
But what was fantastic for the singer about the day were her fans.
“I was lucky to have all my fans there... they all seemed really pumped up,” she says.
Those that missed out on seeing Wigmore perform live at the last ‘Day Out’ will get another chance at the Winery Tour, which kicks off this weekend.
Wigmore promises to keep everyone pumped with her fun and light-hearted performance, singing a big mix of old and new music.
“I’ll be playing stuff off ‘Holy Smoke’, off the EP, off ‘Gravel and Wine’, and a couple of covers I’ll chuck in there for good value,” she says.

Can't wait for the winery tour. Loved the Mutton Birds when I was younger and now a huge Gin fan. Seen her once live. If your a bit unsure GO as she is the best thing to come out of NZ for years.
ReplyDitto, haven't seen her live and the winery tour allows us to see her here in Nelson, instead of having to travel to CHC or even further, roll on neudorf event, can't wait......new album is brilliant!
