The week in gossip

The rock star lifestyle hits too close to home for Jon Bon Jovi, Peaches Geldof reveals her second son's name - and is it really all over for Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez?

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are no longer love's young dream after ending their two-year romance last week.

Gomez, 20, reportedly dumped the teenage superstar over "trust issues", leaving him somewhat down in the dumps. So much so, in fact, that he performed Justin Timberlake's famous break-up track 'Cry Me A River' at a show in Boston over the weekend.

Bieber, 18, recently posted a self-portrait on Instagram with the caption 'lingse' - an anagram of ‘single’ – sending his 29 million Twitter followers into a frenzy.

He even called a live radio show recently and commented: "I don't know what to say. I don't know what's going on in my life."

The singer was rumoured to be chatting up scantily-clad beauties at the Victoria's Secret fashion show on November 7, and afterwards Gomez took to Twitter to post a photo of her beau with Hungarian model Barbara Palvin. The Victoria's Secret model, 19, accompanied the Beeb to a New York performance of The Lion King recently – but has twice denied rumours of a romance.

Palvin Tweeted: "last time im saying it. please calm down.there is nothing going on w him.i met him and did a pic w him. wouldnt u do the same?:) #friendship" (sic)

Press reports had Selena snapped looking glum in a number of American airports and Justin ticketed for speeding through L.A. in his Ferrari. The pair were said to be meeting up in New York to discuss their future earlier this week.

"She [Selena] is keen to talk... and so is he," said a source close to the pair.

"They're both being a bit cagey and stubborn but they're desperate to see one another.

"This isn't new for them, they often have a tumultuous relationship. We all expect them to work it out."

Channing Tatum has been named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2012.

The clear frontrunner for the title flashed plenty of his incredibly buff body in this year's stripper movie 'Magic Mike', but says he was still stunned to hear the news.

Alabama-born Tatum, 32, beat out Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth, Denzel Washington and last year's winner Bradley Cooper for the title. (Rumours still abound that Cooper only won the 2011 by default after Ryan Gosling refused to accept it.)

"My first thought was, 'Y'all are messing with me," he told the magazine. "I told Jenna [Dewan-Tatum, his wife] after we'd been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they'd gotten skunked."

Dewan-Tatum was understandably thrilled by her husband’s accolade, Tweeting on Wednesday, "Well obviously I agree! Good job @peoplemag! Congrats to my humble, loving, talented and yes- SEXY- love @channingtatum!!"

The Tatums tied the knot in 2009.

As well as 'Magic Mike', Tatum has had an incredibly busy 2012, starring in 'The Vow' and the big-screen remake of '21 Jump Street'. Next up for the actor? Olympic drama 'Foxcatcher' – and possibly fatherhood.

"I'm ready; I think she's ready," he says of the prospect of little Tatums. "The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we'll see where we go after that."

"It’s really easy for us guys to say, 'I want like 15 kids,'" he continues. "Jenna will be like, 'Well you better get another wife!'"

"People know him to be fun and sexy, but they don't know how emotionally deep and spiritually open he is," Dewan-Tatum told People. "He is such an open-hearted person; what you see is what you get."

The rock star lifestyle hit a little too close to home for Jon Bon Jovi this week when his daughter was arrested following a suspected heroin overdose.

Stephanie Rose Bongiovi, 19, was reportedly found unconscious in her dorm room at the upscale Hamilton College in New York state in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

When Bongiovi regained consciousness in hospital she was arrested on charges of misdemeanour possession of the heroin, misdemeanour marijuana possession, criminally using drug paraphernalia and a violation related to the marijuana.

"She was issued an appearance ticket at the hospital and released. It constituted an arrest, but she was not handcuffed," police investigator Peter Cania told the New York Daily News. "She has yet to be fingerprinted and photographed. She'll do that at court when she returns for arraignment."

Friends have said Bongiovi, a wannabe model, has been struggling with her demons for a while.

"Stephanie has been undergoing a drug problem for quite some time. Friends and family have been worried about her and unsuccessful in getting her to rehab," a pal of her told the Daily News this week.

"She wasn't listening to anyone. Sometimes her friends wouldn't hear from her for weeks. We were all scared for her but didn't know what to do.”

Reps for Bon Jovi have not issued any public comment.

Another rock and roll offspring, Peaches Geldof, is enjoying family life so much that she announced this week she's expecting her second child.

Astala Willow Dylan Geldof-Cohen, Geldof's son with musician husband Tom Cohen, is six months old. The new baby, which Geldof and Cohen have revealed is also a boy, is due in May and to be called Phaedra. (Numerous commenters have pointed out that Phaedra in Greek mythology was, in fact, a woman.)

The 23-year-old daughter of Bob Geldof told Hello! magazine that she was naturally shocked to be expecting again so soon, but that husband Tom was an unwavering source of support.

"I did have a momentary panic and go, 'Oh my God, we're going to have a one-year-old and a one-month-old! How will we cope?'

"Tom was so supportive and relaxed, it banished my doubts and I started imagining the two boys growing up together as the best of friends. There are massive benefits to having two children so close together."

That said, the former wild child claims she will be stopping at two kids for the time being.

"I don't think I'll be adding to our little brood until later on in my life when I'm older and don't have two toddlers running around demanding all of Tom's and my attention.

"I may be only 23 and the only one of our friends who's married, got a baby on the way and is on the verge of moving to Surrey, but it's a life I always dreamed of and I couldn't be happier."

Jon Bon Jovi needs to take his daughter out of that boarding school immediately if it doesn't supervise its pupils. Just send her to a school in another location where she can develop a better sense of herself without the drug dealers needing to get her addicted so they can control her; and make the drug dealer wealthy. Sounds like all the school is interested in is its big fees as well. Ask Paul McCartney what to do and get his advice on where to send his daughter, as Paul and his deceased wife Linda, were the most commonsense parents in tinsel town. I saw an interview on TV with Paul and Linda McCartney many moons ago and was very impressed with their commonsense views on kids and parenting.
