The week in gossip

A third party emerges in the break up of Joe and Tina Simpson, Justin Timberlake apologises for taking the mickey, and Kendell and Kylie Jenner are investigated by social services.

The marriage of Tina and Joe Simpson ended after Joe came out to his family, media outlets in the U.S. are reporting.

The National Enquirer ran a story saying the parents of Jessica and Ashlee Simpson called time on their 34-year union after Joe revealed he is gay. Other news sources allege Mr Simpson, 54, has been having a year-long affair with 21-year-old dancer Bryce Chandler Hill, and came out two months ago.

"Joe Simpson being outed by the National Enquirer was no surprise to the gay community in Hollywood," a source told RadarOnline. "Bryce has been bragging about hooking up with Joe for a while now.

"Bryce is close to TJ Espinoza, who in turn is good friends with both Jessica and Ashlee and worked for Britney Spears as a back-up dancer."

Hill denied the allegations via Twitter, but sources say Tina Simpson flew to New York in August to confront her husband after finding pictures of the young dancer posing all around their LA home. The couple had returned from a Hawaiian getaway when Joe took off to New York City, and his wife followed him for answers about the identity of the mystery man.

"Over a 12-month period, Tina saw that Joe was splashing thousands of dollars in designer stores... staying in luxury hotels and buying tickets for concerts. What was worse, the money that Joe had freely spent on Bryce was from a mutual account he shared with Tina."

This week Mr Simpson was snapped on the streets of Los Angeles in an out of character ensemble, complete with a new bleached blonde hairdo and trendy trainers.

"Jessica had absolutely no clue that her father was gay, not even the slightest inkling," a source says. "It was a complete shock to the system, she feels terribly for her mom who was left reeling by the announcement and her sister Ashlee has also taken the news quite badly."

Jessica Simpson is said to be questioning the reliability of her gaydar.

"It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved," a spokesperson for the Simpsons tells America's People magazine.

The spokesperson added: "Any other related allegations are completely false. The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time."

The couple, who tied the knot in 1978 are grandparents to Ashlee’s son Bronx, four this month, and Jessica’s six-month-old daughter Maxwell.

Justin Timberlake has apologised publicly for a video shown at his wedding which took the mickey out of the homeless.

The singer’s pal Justin Huchel filmed the video, which showed homeless on the streets of Los Angeles acting as friends of Justin and Jessica who couldn’t make it to their opulent Italian wedding, held last month.

Timberlake branded the vid ‘distasteful’ several days after it was posted on Gawker.com.

"My friends are good people," the singer wrote in a statement on his official website. "This was clearly a lapse in judgment which I'm sure no one who is reading this is exempt from. But, I don't believe it was made to be insensitive.

"More so, I think it was made as a joke on me not having that many friends attending my own wedding (which IS kind of funny if you think about it).

"I think we can all agree that it was distasteful, even though that was not its intention.

"I want to say that, on behalf of my friends, family, and associative knuckleheads, I am deeply sorry to anyone who was offended by the video. Again, it was something that I was not made aware of. But, I do understand the reaction and, by association, I am holding myself accountable.

"P.S. You can bet your ass that I'm having my friend do at least 100 hours of community service... Boom."

Boom?

The eight-minute, 30 second video was reportedly shown at the Timberlakes’ wedding reception.

One man named Eddie said to camera: "Jessica and Justin, I ain't seen y'all in a while. The gift is in the mail."

Another clip shows one of the city’s transvestites telling the bride "Good luck and watch your man."

(Given long-standing rumours of his wandering eye, perhaps the new Mrs Timberlake should heed that advice.)

The summer romance between Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy is over.

Some sources are laying the blame at the feet of Swift’s gruelling workload in support of her new album Red – while others say the speed of the romance freaked 18-year-old Kennedy out.

Swift, at 22 four years older than her ex-beau, is apparently ‘obsessed’ with the legacy of the Kennedy family and her fixation on the clan was part of the reason the couple called it quits.

"She was more obsessed with the idea of dating a Kennedy, than the actual Kennedy she was dating," a source told RadarOnline.

"Conor's just an 18-year-old kid and wasn't ready for anything super serious," the source adds.

"But Taylor is looking for her soulmate and it kind of freaked him out with how strong she came on."

Swift had formed a close bond with Conor’s grandmother Ethel Kennedy, widow of Bobby, who told U.S. press recently the singer is "just spectacular. She's just sensational. She's very kind."

Swift was said to be helping the 18-year-old student deal with his grief from the suicide of his mother Mary Richardson Kennedy in May.

Promotion of her Swift’s new album Red (which sold 1.2m copies in its first week of release in the States) meant the star hadn’t seen Kennedy for a month before their breakup.

The singer is apparently going ahead with plans to buy a seaside mansion in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, next to the famous Kennedy compound.

Swift has previously dated actors Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal and Cory Monteith, as well as lothario musician John Mayer.

California’s department of Child Protection Services paid a visit to the Kardashian clan this week following allegations Kendall and Kylie Jenner were being abused.

Kendall, 17, and Kylie, 15, are the daughters of Bruce and Kris Jenner, and both star in the reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

No evidence of abuse was found by city officials after a meeting at the Jenner home. Mum Kris suspects a tabloid journalist of prank calling the department to generate a story, and has hired a private investigator to find the culprit.

He’s certainly earned his money over the years but perhaps enough is enough – Lindsay Lohan’s publicist has officially quit his job.

Steve Honig says his resignation was not due to the 26-year-old actress’ arrest record, her problems with addiction, or for her charges for hit and run, theft, and DUI – but because he is fed up with dealing with Lindsay’s father Michael.

Honig and Michael Lohan clashed over Lohan’s attempt to stage an intervention for his troubled daughter last week.

Honig’s stable of clients reads like a who’s who of celebrity burnouts – including Courtney Love and Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife Brooke Mueller.

But there’s no rest for the wicked in the law and order department. This week Lindsay is said to have begun filing a restraining order against her father as well as getting the news that hit and run allegations against her will not be pursued.

Why do people even buy magazines still? All of this information could have been gleaned from online sources ... I have learnt absolutely nothing new from reading this.
