You may want to take it with a grain of salt. My all-time biggest celebrity crush was on Reservoir Dogs actor Michael Madsen. I used to fancy Tony Soprano. I don't like Zac Efron or Pete Wentz or Shia LaBeouf, and fail to see the appeal of those unfortunate Madden twins. But what's considered sexy and what's considered beautiful is not always the same.
Every year that cornerstone of celebrity reporting, People Magazine, releases their list of the World's Most Beautiful People. By this, they normally mean the most beautiful Americans that are on a hot TV show or in the news.
Last week California girl Kate Hudson was the magazine's cover model, leading a celebrity pack which included Carrie Underwood, Isla Fisher, and Mary J Blige. Some - like Salma Hayek and the phenomenal Julianne Moore - I totally agree with. Those two women are true beauties who will be remembered in the way that movie stars are from yesteryear. Vanessa Hudgens and Taylor Swift? I'm not really sure if they're enduring beauties or just hot in the press. Good looking? Definitely.
Pretty girls and boys are a dime a dozen in Hollywood - after all, for every Steve Buscemi that makes it on to the big screen there are probably a hundred Tara Reids. But true beauty is a bit rarer to come by.
While I think Kate Hudson is a gorgeous girl with great hair and a rocking body, do I think she's the most beautiful woman in Hollywood? No.
Natalie Portman would be right at the top of my list. The girl's almost flawless face can take on almost any character - right at home as the stripper from Closer, as Anne Boleyn in The Other Boleyn Girl, or as Queen Amidala in the Star Wars trilogy. The 26-year-old, born Natalie Hershlag in Jerusalem, is smart, bilingual in Hebrew and English, and very, very talented.
Penelope Cruz has a show-stopping beauty and smouldering Spanish eyes. Who wouldn't want to look like Pene? She doesn't seem to take herself too seriously and worrying about her looks doesn't seem to be the be-all and end-all of her existence. And she's currently entangled with the scrumptious Javier Bardem, the most manly of the manly men who could get any senorita, Spanish or not, hot under the collar.
Rumer Willis was a surprise entry on to People's list. Rumer Willis? Really? I mean, I would put Demi Moore on the list. I would put Ashton Kutcher on the list. And while Rumer is no Quasimodo, she's no Mona Lisa either. Unkinder bloggers than me (yes, they exist!) have bandied around the terms ‘Mrs Potato Head' and ‘Jay Leno's chin.' The picture People used to name Rumer in the issue, ironically, has her posing with an arm hiding the said chin. While some newspapers have bandied around the ‘young Demi' term, Rumer doesn't look that much like her mother.
When it comes to ranking Hollywood's heavyweight hotties, I've found that people tend to fall into on of two camps. I think you're either a Brad or a Johnny person, and in this corner we're Team Depp all the way. In my opinion Johnny Depp is the best looking man in Hollywood. Plenty of people would say Brad Pitt, and while I can see that Brad Pitt is hardly Frankenstein, Johnny has it over him. The combination of a self-assured swagger, German, Cherokee and Irish ancestry - a romantic, a chameleon, and a dedicated actor.
The two halves of the Brangelina phenomenon must still rate up there with the best-looking in the biz. They're the Citizen Kane or the Catcher In The Rye of any best-looking list. They've hung around for ages and are undisputed classics, but sometimes you just want to shout out with the old and in with the new. I mean, there's no quibbling with their gorgessity (just look at Shiloh!) but sometimes you just don't need it shoved in your face.
Irish actor Cillian Murphy has cheekbones that could cut glass and the most amazing blue eyes. He was an amazing transvestite in the Neil Jordan movie Breakfast On Pluto and while a great-looking guy not really the type to toot my horn. (Anyone who has met my husband knows I don't really go for the androgynous look!)
The gorgeous Michelle Pfeiffer has just turned 50, but doesn't look a day over 30.
People's Most Beautiful Couples were named as Eva Longoria Parker and husband Tony Parker, and Jessica Alba and fiancé Cash Warren. I'm not sold. What about Ashton and Demi, Penelope and Javier, and Heidi and Seal?
Who would be on my list of Hollywood's Most Beautiful People? All those I mentioned above, plus Rihanna, Rosario Dawson, Audrey Tatou, Daniel Craig, Halle Berry, Anne Hathaway, and Cate Blanchett.
