Keep your knees crossed tightly and don't drink the water in the Hollywood region if you don't want to end up with child this year. Tinseltown has experienced somewhat of a baby boom over the last couple of months, and with a whole new wave of pregnancy announcements this doesn't look like easing up any time soon.

Jennifer Lopez - due early February

Although she's taken a slight step back from the public eye since marrying Marc Anthony in 2004, Jennifer Lopez doesn't do anything by halves. Case in point - she's strongly rumoured to be carrying twins, a girl and a boy, due for delivery in the next few weeks.

Forbes magazine reckons La Lopez is the richest Latin American entertainer in Hollywood - and her husband doesn't earn peanuts either. Those babies will have all sorts of junior bling and nothing but the best in the couple's homes in New Jersey, Miami and LA.

Predicted name: Something spicy and Latin: Rafael, Joaquin or Matias for a boy; and Sofia, Camila or Lucia for a girl.

Halle Berry - due March

Possibly Hollywood's hottest mama to be at the moment, Halle's much longed for dreams of motherhood will come to fruition in a few weeks when she welcomes her first child with French-Canadian hottie boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry. With Halle's much-celebrated good looks and model genes from its daddy, could this baby rival Shiloh Jolie-Pitt for the title of Best Looking Celeb Baby on the Block?

Predicted name: Something classic, possibly from daddy Gabriel's French-Canadian roots. Noemie, Megane and Coralie are all popular in Quebec for girls; as are Xavier, Olivier and Felix for boys.

Cate Blanchett - due April

As well as being an accomplished thespian, Cate is already an experienced mama, having two boys (Dashiell, 6, and Roman, 3) with husband Andrew Upton. The family recently moved to Sydney where Cate and Andrew took over as Artistic Directors of the Sydney Theatre Company.

Predicted names: Going by Dashiell and Roman, little baby Blanchett will be christened something away from the mainstream. Maybe Cate will jump on the goddess trend started by the movie Juno - Fortuna, Venus, Aphrodite or Artemis could all be on the cards.

Jamie Lynn Spears - due April - June

Like big sister Britney, controversy began to follow 16-year-old children's TV star Jamie Lynn Spears when she announced her pregnancy in December. What's still got the gossips going: rumours that Jamie Lynn conceived in July, not September as she says, give her a wide variation on due date.

And what would a celeb pregnancy be without some babydaddy drama? Blogs and mags are gleefully reporting the news that Jamie's boyfriend, 18-year-old Casey Aldridge, is being paid off by the Spears family to take the fall for the real daddy - a much older TV exec on Jamie's show.

Predicted names: Frappucino for a girl or, in a nod to Spears' southern roots, Elvis or Colonel Sanders for a boy.

Jessica Alba - due June

After splitting with her fella late last year, Alba's pregnancy was a surprise to most with their ears to the ground as far as gossip goes. She's now engaged to said fella, boyfriend Cash Warren, and is now showing the beginnings of a cute little baby bump.

Jess is known to be notoriously fierce when it comes to her workout routine, and has kept up her gym visits since the pregnancy announcement. Want a bet she'll be back on the treadmill within days of the birth?

Predicted name: Nothing Latin due to Alba's apparent non-love affair with her Mexican heritage. Expect something trendy, like Ruby, Madison or Ava for a girl; or Dylan, Ethan, or Jake for a boy.

Nicole Kidman - Keith Urban - due July

After numerous predictions, false starts and a couple of troubled pregnancies, the First Lady of Australia is finally expecting a baby with He of The Thin Lips. Can the baby's July due date steal the spotlight from cutie-patootie Suri Cruise and Tom Cruise's newest movie, Valkyrie, due mid to late 2008?

Predicted names: Some true blue Aussie ones, like Kylie, Shazza, Brett or Shane.

Matthew McConaughey - Camila Alves - due July

The ultimate surfer boy who just can't bring himself to wear a shirt announced last week that he is to reproduce. Matthew McConaughey has 'made a baby' (his words!) with his Brazilian model girlfriend Camila, and Matt is chuffed. So much so that he issued this wildly enthusiastic statement riddled with dude lingo.

"It's 3 months growin in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far. We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being mother and a father, and shepherding him or her through this life."

This will be one good looking kid, but let's hope Matt's laissez faire attitude to clothing doesn't extend to his offspring.

Predicted names: Something hippy, like Sunrise, River, Hope or Serenity.

Max Liron Bratman - Christina Aguilera and hubby Jordan's bundle of joy bounced into the world January 12. As dictated by Jewish tradition, little Max Liron (whose name translates as 'greatest song') was circumcised at eight days of age.

Harlow Winter Kate Madden - born January 11 to socialite mama Nicole Richie and Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden. Hard to believe they've only been going out for 13 months!

A picture of little Harlow is yet to surface, but Nicole Richie's no fool - I'd say a weekly gossip rag would have snapped up those photos for a tidy sum. And with a fashionista mother, doubtless she'll be one well-dressed baby.

Valentina Paloma Pinault - this little girl really is a billion dollar baby, born to Salma Hayek and fiance Francois-Henri Pinault, the boss of luxury brands Gucci and Yves St Laurent. Hot mama Salma has bounced back into shape since her baby's birth in September, and little Valentina (how much do you love that name?) could be in the running as one of Hollywood's cutest babies.

Usher Raymond V - the latest in a long line of Ushers, born to the R&B superstar and his wife Tameka in November.
