Forbes magazine has named Jolie in the number one position on their annual Celebrity 100 list, calling her the most powerful celebrity in the world. Oprah has dropped to second after two years in a row at the top - and despite her earnings being ten times Angie's for the year June ‘08 to June '09.
But don't go crying for Angelina. Oprah may have raked in US$275m, but Angie's got her hands on around US$27 million over the past 12 months. Her money spinners? Film roles including Changeling, Kung Fu Panda, Wanted and the upcoming Salt which the star is currently filming in New York. Oh, and she didn't let a little thing like giving birth to twins Knox and Vivienne last July break her stride at all.
The annual Celebrity 100 list is a combination of celebrity earnings (pre-tax and business expenses) in the entertainment field with their media exposure thrown in the mix.
What sent Angelina soaring to the top of the heap on the Forbes list is her press and her exposure, two things she undoubtedly has more of than anyone else in Hollywood. I mean, three out of four of the week's gossip mag covers are normally Angelina-related.
And she wasn't the only member of the Jolie-Pitt family to rank high on the list. Partner Brad Pitt came in ninth, while his ex Jennifer Aniston was ranked eighth.
So does Angelina really have it all?
It would certainly seem so. Gorgeous, loaded, great boyfriend, six beautiful kids, an Oscar, and the girl's one of Hollywood's most noted humanitarians and advocate on behalf of refugees.
Her movies haven't been uniformly great. But have anyone's? And does it matter when they make money? I haven't seen Changeling, wasn't impressed with Wanted, or Mr and Mrs Smith. But I did like The Good Shepherd.
Never far from the headlines, Madonna's phenomenally successful Hard Candy tour got her catapulted to third, Beyonce ranked fourth, and Tiger Woods was fifth with $110 million in income - despite sitting most of the year off the pro golf circuit with a knee injury.
And the year's newcomers?
As JK Rowling dropped out of the list this year with no Harry Potter books or movies released, space was left for Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, coming in 26th after selling 29 million books. Despite only being 19, country singer Taylor Swift landed herself on the list too at a very respectable 69 - earning US$18m in the past 12 months.
Kate Hudson's summer lovin'
Kate Hudson loves her a bloke. And why not? She's young, gorgeous and available. If she makes another romantic comedy with Matthew McConaughey I might actually kill myself, but that's beside the point.
Since her 2006 separation from muso singer Chris Robinson, Hudson has found herself in favour with the fellas. But the latest object of her affection has definitely got the gossips going.
What seemed to be a rather strange rumour for the past few weeks actually has had some substance to it - Kate is dating New York Yankees third baser Alex Rodriguez. Yes, the same burly baseballer who was seen stepping out with Madonna immediately after her split with Guy Ritchie late last year.
She's been spotted in the crowd at Yankee Stadium, followed him to Dallas on a team fixture, and been spotted dining out with him at various New York hotspots. Oh, and she reportedly legged it rather quickly from a polo match where Prince Harry was playing over the weekend when word got round that Madonna, A-Rod's ex, would also be among the spectators.
"It's somewhat serious,' a pal told People magazine. "He introduced her to a bunch of his friends."
The pair first met in November at the Fontainebleau resort opening in Miami, although gossipy tongues are wagging with the news that he's fancied her since he saw her onscreen as tart-with-a-heart Penny Lane in Almost Famous nine years ago. I remember not loving the dress she was wearing that night at the Miami shindig (probably wasn't cheap, but looked it), but obviously Rodriguez was impressed.
Rodriguez hit headlines earlier this year when he admitted to using banned substances during his playing days for a stint in the nineties (prompting the nickname A-Roid), and had a bitter split from wife Cynthia in 2008.
Kate has publicly proclaimed that she doesn't have a particular type when it comes to guys, although it seems she does have a soft spot for athletes. Last summer she had a brief but public romance with cycling champ Lance Armstrong, and was linked with cute Aussie golfer Adam Scott earlier this year. But she also quite fancies herself the grubby comedian type (Dax Shepard), the troubled Hollywood star (Owen Wilson) and the long-haired rocker (Robinson).
Just as an aside, did you know her middle name is Garry? Weird.
That's so Bruno
Are you over the phenomenon that is Sacha Baron Cohen's latest alter ego, Bruno, yet? I am so not.
After his headline-grabbing fall into Eminem's face at last weekend's MTV Movie Awards, Bruno is riding high on the front of this month's issue of British fashion mag Marie Claire. In the mag, where he poses for a haute couture photo shoot with Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio (who seems rather non-plussed throughout), the Austrian fashion critic features in an article focusing on the A-Z essentials of fashion.
He pays a backhanded, Bruno-style tribute to supermodel Naomi Campbell, telling the mag, "She's amazing - 20 years in ze business und all the pressure and fame hasn't changed her a bit. She's remained a total bitch."
On Pink: "Just vatching him now on MTV. A great singer und so hunky."
A, says Bruno, is for his homeland of Austria. He says Austrians live to ‘try and achieve ze Austrian dream - find a job, get a dungeon and raise a family in it."
For more Bruno, check out a clip from his mock comedy show ; the incident with Eminem ; and the trailer for the movie, due out in July.
Now it's come out that the Bruno-Eminem rather awkward 69-shaped incident was a set up, and not accidental as initially bandied about in some parts of the press, the rapper (who incidentally has a new album to promote at the moment) is thrilled with how the prank came off.
"It had so many people going ‘nuts' so to speak," he's reported as saying in People mag. "Everyone was blowing me up about it.
"After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about three hours. Especially after I saw it on air."
Spencer blows a fuse
Hollywood's ultimate fame whores, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, are currently in the Costa Rican jungle filming the latest American series of the deliciously ridiculous reality show I'm A Celebrity....Get Me Out of Here. Along for the ride with the shameless couple are Janice Dickinson (who also appeared in the British one), Lou Diamond Phillips, Stephen Baldwin (the one you take when you can't get Alec or Billy), and American Idol's Sanjaya Malakar.
Craving the spotlight of Tinseltown even in a remote location, Heidi and Spencer reportedly quit the show twice in two days only to return to the jungle camp. Producers scrambled to find a replacement for the couple, and contacted a couple of their reality show buddies to enquire as to whether they'd be keen.
Turned out not so much.
Brody Jenner's rep: "No. Brody's not that hungry for bugs or camera time."
(Burn!)
Audrina Partridge's rep: "Not in a million years. Audrina is moving in a completely different direction than those two...she's a star."
The normally unshakeable Spencer saw red after hearing what happened, and dished out a sharp reply to Audrina.
"Heads up, Audrina," he told TMZ.com. "Just because you have a one night stand with a guy who's in a movie called Star trek doesn't make you a star. You're just a ho."
Ouch!
Audrina has been spotted out and about with actor Chris Pine, who played a young Captain Kirk in this year's super-successful Star Trek flick. The dalliance was reportedly over before it began, with old Ceiling Eyes (how I love that nickname) already snapped out on the town with Z-list actor Jesse Metcalfe.
