The smut: Weekend edition
Lady Gaga fever shows no signs of abating, while it's crunch time this weekend for the Scottish singer taking the world by storm.
I've just watched the video for Lady GaGa's brand new single 'Paparazzi', and if it wasn't official that the 23-year-old formerly known as Joanne Stefani Germanotta was the queen of modern pop music, then it certainly is now.

The clip, made by celebrated music video director Jonas Akerlund, is a combination of drama, art, fantastic costumes and high-camp sensibility. It's fab! The official version hasn't hit YouTube yet, but keep an eye out for it.

It's definitely been a good couple of weeks for Gaga.

Reports out of Australia earlier this week claimed that the singer, on tour as an opener for the Pussycat Dolls on their current tour, was blowing the girl group out of the water when it comes to putting on a show.

"Part marketing genius, part art project, Gaga proved herself to be an incredible live act," reported the Melbourne Age.

"That made the former burlesque troupe turned pop group the Pussycat Dolls all the more disappointing when they hit the stage...but their stripper-like moves and sparkly outfits just didn't have the same witticism as Gaga.

"Still at least they can say that they once supported the great Lady Gaga."

If that's not enough for one week, the New Yorker also graces the cover of this month's Rolling Stone, the magazine's annual Hot Issue, wearing not much more than some strategically placed bubbles and a well-teased hairdo.

Inside the mag the singer dishes to writer Brian Hiatt about her high-art, larger than life pop persona that's taken the world by storm.

"I don't feel like I look like the other perfect little pop singers," she says. "I think I'm changing what people think is sexy."

Gaga, who refuses to wear pants ("I feel freer in underwear, and I hate f**king pants," she told the mag), gets chatted up by Marilyn Manson, admits to being bisexual in a way that makes you believe it's not merely for attention (reportedly it makes her boyfriends ‘uncomfortable'), and spills on living the high life of a celebrity way before she hit the big time.

"The largest misconception is that Lady Gaga is a persona or character," she told RS in a February interview. "I'm not - even my mother calls me Gaga. I am 150,000 per cent Lady Gaga every day."

Although the music she makes is purely for good times on the dance floor, Gaga's goals for her career are long term. "My true legacy will be the test of time, and whether I can sustain a space in pop culture and really make stuff that will have a genuine impact."

Despite her public naysayers - Christina Aguilera sniped earlier this year that "I'm not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don't know if it is a man or a woman" - Gaga also has some very vocal celebrity supporters.

Kanye West blogged last week about the crop of music's superstars, calling Justin Timberlake the new Michael Jackson, Beyonce the new Tina Turner, Lil' Wayne the new Jimi Hendrix - and Gaga the new Madonna.

Marilyn Manson, who reportedly didn't try and hide his admiration for the singer, told Rolling Stone, "She knows exactly what she's doing. She's very smart, she's not selling out, she's a great musician, she's a great singer, and she's laughing when she's doing it, the same way that I am."

Crunch time for the Hairy Angel

Excessive Twitterers Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher may be winging their way to London this weekend to cheer on Susan Boyle in Saturday night's final of Britain's Got Talent.

As you'll well know the 48-year-old Scottish spinster, dubbed the Hairy Angel by the British press, is a hot favourite to win the reality TV show after a jaw-dropping rendition of ‘I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables and ‘Memory' from Cats.

Judge Amanda Holden got in touch with Demi over Twitter after the actress publicly gushed over Boyle's talent on the microblogging site, telling her show boss Simon Cowell would send the Kutchers first class tickets to cross the Atlantic for Boye's big moment.

But it's not been a complete dream ride for Boyle, who lives alone with her cats in the Scottish town of Blackburn. Reports of her cursing at members of the public in her North London hotel have flooded the press in recent days, with reported police involvement.

She also supposedly pulled the fingers at judge Piers Morgan while watching the show's broadcast after he called 12-year-old rival Shaheen Jafargholi ‘pound for pound the best singing performance in the semi-finals.'

But Morgan was the first to rush to Boyle's defence yesterday in British tabloid The Daily Mirror.

"I've been told she's been in floods of tears," he told the paper.

"Yesterday she was actually going to leave the show, packed her bags to go because she couldn't see the point in going on if all she was going to get was all this sniping.

"I think there's a lot of cynicism building up about Susan, a lot of unnecessary criticism about her. She's just two days away from the biggest show of her life, the biggest moment of her life, and we should give her a break."

Celebs are also taking sides of the Boyle debate through Twitter.

Lily Allen, never short of an opinion or two tweeted earlier this week: "She seems like a lovely lady, but if the show is about talent then that Shaheen kid should win." And on Wednesday:"It also seems that I am not alone in my SUBO views, I'd say 90% of you are agreeing with me. And by the way, overrated is not the same as bad."

But she's still got the backing of Demi, her biggest celebrity fan. "2 the lovely Susan Boyle - Trust that the whole world is rooting 4U whatever the outcome! U have nothing 2 lose just keeping sharing your light!"

Money, money, money

Sounds like TV queen Katherine Heigl has just talked herself out of another step up the ladder towards big screen fame.

The actress, 30, who plays Izzie Stevens on Grey's Anatomy was recently in talks to sign on for an upcoming romantic comedy, Valentine's Day, featuring a very impressive ensemble cast. Word is the movie has already bagged Bradley Cooper, Shirley Maclaine, Ashton Kutcher, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner and Julia Roberts.

Heigl's negotiations hit a snag however, when she reportedly demanded a US$3m salary for the role.

A source told Page Six that the figure was ‘ridiculous,' continuing "There is really no one lead role. Actors are only filming between three and 14 days, and no other actors asked for nearly that amount."

Reps for Heigl deny the story.

But the beautiful actress, who started working as a child model, has reportedly been prickly to work with in the past. She famously bagged out her breakthrough role in Knocked Up to Vanity Fair magazine, saying "I had a hard time with it on some days." She's also clashed with the writes of her hit TV show, Grey's.

Who is untalented?
And.. who should learn from experience exactly?

If you're going to comment about someone or a couple of people then at least make sense otherwise your point of view is completely invalid.

oh god!
As if Lily Allen can talk. Shes WAY overrated, can't REALLY sing, and takes drugs and drinks to much alcohol. Susan deserves it, and that 12 yr old has plently more chances. Susan's life has never been great, but this 12 yr old has plenty of time.

nirvana, there is plenty of awesome talent on the show besides Boyle. Lily Allen is right, overrated doesn't mean its bad, but Boyle isn't going to win this easily.
