Haphazard actress Heather Locklear has a nervous wait to find out if she's going to get charged with driving under the influence in California after her arrest on Saturday. The 47-year-old was arrested in Montecito, California, about 900 miles north of LA, after a concerned citizen spotted her driving erratically.

"A female witness saw Heather Locklear driving erratically while leaving a parking lot in Montecito," Califonia Highway Patrol (yes, them of CHiPs fame) spokesman Tom Marshall told People magazine. "The witness said Locklear was revving her engine loudly, and backed over a pair of sunglasses several times."

Maybe they were Denise Richards' sunnies?

Heather's breath test came back negative for blood-alcohol, but cops arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs - specifically prescription medication. Locklear went to rehab in Arizona in June for what she claimed was issues with ‘depression' and ‘anxiety.' This bust seems to blow those cover stories out of the water, adding weight to the whispers that Heather's real problem was with booze and drugs.

Ah well, at least she didn't offer up Lindsay Lohan's lame-o ‘I had an asthma attack' excuse.

TMZ has pictures of Heather sporting a very large diamond ring on that finger at the time of her arrest, and was supposedly staying in the picturesque town of Montecito (where Oprah has a multi-million dollar estate) with boyfriend and former Melrose Place co-star Jack Wagner.

Heather's ex-husband, Richie Sambora, was busted on a DUI earlier this year. Now all we need is their daughter Ava to get busted for a juvenile crime and the Locklear-Sambora clan will have a thoroughly modern, if not technically law abiding, series of family portraits.

Things may be looking rather grim for the Locklear, but she takes the cake with the dubious honor of the worst celebrity mugshots I've seen in recent times - and that's saying something after you've seen Lindsay Lohan's! She's got a major case of the glassy eye.

Poor little rich girl

Good news this week that the late Heath Ledger's entire estate, including cash and real estate, will be heading the way of his almost three-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose. At the time of his death Heath's will pre-dated his relationship with ex-fiancee Michelle Williams and the birth of his only daughter, leaving his fortune to his parents and sisters in Western Australia.

The Ledgers are very close to Williams and Matilda and decided Heath's assets (around NZ$20m) should benefit his little girl.

Unfortunately, there's a spanner in the works when it comes to some of Matilda's inheritance. Despite his death being officially ruled ‘accidental' by the New York coroner, Heath's life insurance firm is stalling on paying up his US$10m policy as they believe there's a chance the actor could have taken his own life.

They intend to question the masseuse who found Ledger's body, friend Mary Kate Olsen, pathologists and doctors before they'll part with that not insignificant amount of cash.

Matilda's mama Michelle smells a rat and has hired lawyers to get the insurance people to put their money where their corporate mouth is.

Plane crash victims on the move

DJ AM, aka Adam Goldstein, made his first public appearance yesterday after the South Carolina plane crash which killed four and left the DJ and fellow muso Travis Barker severely burned. Goldstein, with burns visible on his neck and face, attended a memorial service for his friend ‘Lil' Chris Baker, who died in the accident.

Travis Barker has been released from a Georgia hospital burns unit to continue treatment in Los Angeles, where he will travel by bus.

"Trust me, he will never fly again - never," a friend of the drummer told People magazine.

But in good news for Barker, it looks like he and on-again, off-again, on-again, off-again wife Shanna Moakler may be on-again after she raced to his side following the accident.

"She is sticking by him," People reports. "She is with him. Despite everything that's happened to them, they love each other."
