Cross-dressing Reid gets dumped by Katie Price

By Yahoo!Xtra Cross-dressing cage fighter Alex Reid has been publicly dumped by glamour model girlfriend Katie Price - after he flew to Australia to propose to her.

Reid, who likes to dress in drag as female alter-ego Roxanne, gave an interview to a British tabloid last weekend in which he revealed his plans to ask busty Price, 31, to marry him after a four-month romance.

Price has been in the Queensland jungle for a week participating on the British reality TV show I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here. She met ex-husband Peter Andre on the same show in 2004.

"I'm definitely asking her to marry me," said Reid as he was photographed at London's Heathrow airport preparing to fly to Brisbane to meet his lover. "And I'm convinced she's going to say yes."

"One idea is I make the proposal in front of cameras on the show. But whatever happens I know this is right. I've never felt this way before.

"I'm convinced Katie's going to feel the same way. I know what we're like when we're together. When I'm with Katie it's full-on 24/7."

Instead Jordan told hosts Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin that she was single in her televised interview after leaving the show's jungle camp.

Price summoned Reid to her hotel room at the Palazzo Versace after the hotel refused to give him her room number, and told him she was 'fed up with him making money from her' and that their relationship was over - one hour before she went on live TV.

The cage fighter had saved GBP20,000 for her dream engagement ring, which he planned to buy in Australia, and is said to be 'devastated.'

"I've been so struck by her bravery in the challenges AND her intelligence," he told News of the World about his lover's stint in the jungle. "When she spelt kangaroo backwards so quickly I was so impressed."

Price quit the show early - forfeiting part of her GBP350,000 fee - after being nominated by the public to take part in every task available since she entered the show.

The publicity-loving glamour model had been doused in 60,000 cockroaches, made to crawl through rat-infested tunnels, and forced to eat fish eyes, cockroaches, flies, and kangaroo testicles and anus during her time on the show.

But she is expected to make over one million pounds in interviews and endorsements following her exit, reports UK tabloid The Daily Mail.

She also apologised to the public for her behaviour since her split with Andre, her husband of three-and-a-half years, in May.

"I've come out as a better person. For seven months I've acted like a right twit. I'm sorry if I've upset people."

Price is said to be returning to the UK to spend time with her children Harvey, seven, Junior, four, and two-year-old Princess.
