"Bored to Death" keeps HBO interested

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - HBO has picked up the comedy "Bored to Death," starring Jason Schwartzman, for a second season.

Schwartzman plays a mentally blocked writer-turned-private investigator. Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis co-star.

The offbeat freshman comedy reached a series high in viewership this past Sunday.

Following the episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in which the cast of "Seinfeld" reunited with the show's co-creator Larry David, the third installment of "Bored to Death" nabbed its largest audience to date, 1.1 million viewers, up 51 percent from the previous week. (The total grew to 1.5 for the two Sunday airings of the show combined.)

"Bored to Death" is the second new HBO series to premiere this year, after the comedy "Hung." Both earned quick renewals.
