A not so festive season for Jennifer Love Hewitt

By Splash Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt has split with her Scottish fiance Ross McCall, according to US reports.

The 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' star and McCall are said to be "really sad" after breaking up over the festive season. Even close friends are said to be shocked by the split.

A source close to the couple told 'People' magazine: "They broke up over the holidays and have ended their engagement.

"They're both really sad about this.

"Even their friends are surprised; they seemed really happy."

Jennifer, 29, and 'Band of Brothers' star McCall, 32, got engaged in November 2007 after dating for two years.

They had not announced a wedding date but Jennifer had told how she was inspired to lose weight by her upcoming nuptials rather than infamous 2007 photos of her in a bikini.

She told 'People' last October: "I'm getting ready to turn 30 and get married and all these things."

Reps for the pair had no immediate comment.
